NAVARATNA

On July 29, 2005 at 7PM, NAVRATNA, the unique book of nine Indian Languages, was released by H.E, the ambassador of India to Kuwait, Mr. Swashpawan Singh in a grand ceremonial function. Writers Forum, Kuwait organized this function at the auditorium of Indian School, Salmiya. H.E, the ambassador of India to Kuwait, Mr. Swashpawan Singh was the Chief Guest. Dr. Preeti Singh, a renowned English Writer and wife of the H.E, the ambassador of India to Kuwait, Mr. Swashpawan Singh launched the website www.writersforum.itgo.com  for Writers Forum. Function was attended by a large crowed comprising of highly acclaimed professionals, businessmen, writers, poets, media personnel, and people from all parts & strata of India.

Function started with lighting of the lamp by H.E, the ambassador of India to Kuwait, Mr. Swashpawan Singh, Mr. Lancy Pinto Nayak–President, Ms. Shahjahan Jafri–Joint Secretary and Mr. Umesh Sharma–General Secretary of Writers Forum.

At the outset, Mr. Sharma gave a brief glimpse of the history of Writers Forum and remembered all those personalities who contributed to the growth of the Writers Forum. He stated that NAVRATNA is a unique book which covers compositions (generally poems) in nine Indian languages [Dogri, English, Hindi, Punjabi, Konkani, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu] with their English translation along. Twenty-one writers/poets of Indian Community in Kuwait have contributed their compositions in this book. The book carries coloured photographs of writers/poets along with their profiles. Mr. Sharma added that this unique book will not only establish itself as a landmark in the history of literature but will also contribute significantly towards a better understanding among people from different languages, cultures and backgrounds, thus, making our beloved country-India more united and more stronger. Mr. Sharma believes that this book is a step forward to foster the noble cause of National Integration. 

President of Writers Forum, Mr. Lancy Pinto Nayak stated that the NAVRATNA is the result of efforts of many members. He highlighted that a writer is more aware socially and is partially an activist.

H.E. the Ambassador of India, Mr. Swashpawan Singh remarked that the Navratna is a great gift of love and learning which symbolizes our ancient civilization of 5000 years old which a unique ability to integrate. The fact that we have nine languages together itself is an indication of diversity and variety of Indian tradition. Mr. Singh further added that the ability to integrate them (nine languages) and put them together is unique genius. Ability to integrate is pluralism and is the need of the world today. In his opinion, Writer is the person who can interpret human experiences to all other human beings. Finally he congratulated Writers Forum and wished its members to take the lead to change the human minds and to make the world more peaceful.

Dr . Preeti Singh launched the website for the globalization of the Writers Forum, Kuwait. During her address, she invited writers to write novel on psychological & human experiences of being an expatriate. 

Writers from the Writers Forum, as a gesture of gratitude, presented a copy of the book and bouquet to all sponsors who were present there. All sponsors appreciated this gesture and congratulated Writers Forum on the occasion. In addition, they assured of their participation and cooperation with the Writers Forum in future. 

Writers Forum presented mementos to Punjabi Poet, Mr. Jasbir Singh Dhiman, Urdu Poet & Author Mr. Noor Parkar and Hindi Poet Mr. Umesh Sharma for their outstanding services for the betterment of Writers Forum.

In the final event, Poets who were present read their poems in their own languages whereas Ms. Shahjahan Jafri and Mr. Umesh Sharma read out the English translation of those poems. Those who read their poems were;

Mr. Gurbakash Singh Dogra [Punjabi], Mr. Jasbir Singh Dhiman [Punjabi], Mr. V.E.P.Mathiazhagan [Tamil], Mr.Ravi Premchand [Telugu], Mr.Syed Qamar Minto [Urdu] and Mrs. Shahjahan Jafri [ Urdu]. 

This session was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Absence of Mrs. Maimuna Ali Chougle – Vice President of the Writers Forum and Mr. Noor Parkar- Advisory Committee member was regretted by organizers of the event.

At conclusion, Ms. Shahjahan Jafri extended thanks and gratitude on behalf of the Writers Forum to all dignitaries, guests, sponsors, Indian School Management and staff, all members of the Writers Forum to make the function possible and memorable.
