Writers Forum Felicitate Harsha

Writers Forum, Kuwait held its monthly meeting on March 03, 2006 at the residence of the Hindi Poet and the General Secretary of the Writers Forum, Mr. Umesh Sharma. The meeting was presided over by the Konkani Writer and the President of the Writers Forum, Mr. Lancy Pinto Nayak whereas the Telugu Thinker and Literati, Mr. V. Harshavardhan was the Chief Guest. Mr. Umesh Sharma conducted the meeting. 

Mr. Harshavardhan was felicitated by presenting a copy of the Navratna [a book of nine languages] by Mr. Lancy Pinto Nayak and a bouquet by Mr. Jasbir Singh Dhiman. 

At the outset, Mr. Sharma apprised audience of the activities undertaken on behalf of the Writers Forum during the last one month. On February 17, 2006, President and the General Secretary attended a meeting with Indian Doctors Forum [IDF] where they were given copies of their book “Key to Good Health” for further distribution to the Writers Forum members. All copies were handed out to the members present. Mr. Sharma added that the first Middle East Hindi Conference was attended by him in Abu Dhabi from February 22 to February 24, 2006. In addition, Writers Forum Executive Committee members paid a courtesy visit to the H.E., the Ambassador of India, Mr. M. Ganapathi on March 02, 2006 to welcome him to his new assignment in Kuwait and presented him a copy of Navratna and Bouquet.

This meeting was dedicated to Mr. Harshavardhan who is affectionately known as Harsha among his friends. He came from India on the invitation of the Telugu Kala Samiti to inaugurate their magazine on March 02, 2006. Mr. Sharma highlighted contributions of Mr. Harshavardhan to the entire Indian community in general and to the Telugu Kala Samiti and the Writers Forum in particular during his tenure in Kuwait. Mr. Anand Kumar spoke about the magazine and the significance of inauguration by Mr. Harshavardhan. Dr. Arvind Raina, Mr. Jasbir Singh Dhiman and Mr. Syed Qamar Minto also talked about different facets of Harsha’s personality and his contributions on official and personal levels.

Mr. Harshavardhan expressed his gratitude for the love and feelings shown by the Writer Forum and mentioned that he never felt away from the Writers Forum despite of the fact that he was meeting members after a lapse of eight years. At this point, Harsha became very emotional and he could hold back his tears. He was happy to see the copy of ‘Navratna’–“a dream come true” was the _expression of his joy. He congratulated all members of the Writers Forum for this achievement. Harsha then switched over to a brief literary session on the works of a few of the Telugu Poets of his liking which was enjoyed and appreciated by all present.

At the conclusion, Mr. Sharma extended thanks to the President, Chief Guest and the members present.
